Yes! Lessons are not tutoring for students who struggle, although lessons are great for that too.
In a private lesson, a professional musician who spends their life playing the same instrument as your child will work with them on:
new, advanced skills or skills they are struggling with
music for playing tests
music for Region Band or Solo Contest
music for auditions
developing a love of their instrument (key to long-term participation)
practicing skills (which develops grit, perseverance, and determination.
In short, when students take lessons, they get better. When students get better, they want to practice.
